MOG is the best I've seen and heard so far when it comes to streaming music at home. I began it as a free trial basis, and knew right away I would subscribe to it for my home music entertainment. I wish you could add the Eagles music, but other than that, I have found so many of my favorite obscure artists that Pandora never acquired. Keep up the great work and I hope for much future suggest for MOG radio.

Would love it if the radio feature could be used more as a music discovery feature.

My frustration with MOG Radio is it does't seem to mix it up enough...I put in an artist (in this case, Foo Fighters), and it queues up 5 songs from their most recent album...it should shuffle all their songs, not just a handful of albums (or just one)!

Something seems strange with MOG Radio. Even when in "Artist Only" mode, songs and artists that are entirely contra the selected artist/genre are inserted. Which individuals are doing the programming? Example: We selected the artist Gandalf (soft New Age) with Artist Only Radio mode. Shortly, MOG serves up a song titled "Go Fuck Yourself" by the Crasherz. Management better get control of the punks in the company before they give MOG a bad reputation. Sincerely, Primo Subscribers.

yeah, i wouldn't really care if you could add multiple artists to one station...but at least have some variety in the shuffle and artists that ACTUALLY are similar...you have similar artists listed and they aren't even played on the radio...i use last.fm, i think that has a great radio service...try to come up with something like that and keep the only artist vs similar option available...it would be perfect!

I would like to be able to shuffle all songs of a single artist that are already downloaded on my ipod. I think by selecting mog radio on a particular artist while offline should play and shuffle all songs on my device.

Nothing beats MOG for sound quality and music library, but the radio feature which I use the most needs a lot of work.
If I start a station based off of Zero 7 it seems Sneaker Pimps (which I completely hate) comes up almost every 4th song! Come on! If I try to remove them from my playlist with the X next to the <3 it does nothing and sometimes will actually start playing that song interrrupting the one I was listening to.
I also use the Android client a lot and mostly in the car. The interface is horrible while driving. It should have everything on one screen and simplier without losing functionallity. Panadora seems to have this down pretty well.
Hopefully MOG can get its act together. If so it'll be the best choice out there, if not I'll probably settle for lower quality music from one of the other sites.

I would agree. Even a simple thumbs up/ down would be great so that songs i *hate* stop popping up on MOG radio. I think pandora does a much better job of this. Alternatively, can MOG just suck down my preferences from last.fm? getting MOG radio to perform close to pandora radio (in terms of selecting tracks which i will like) would be a HUGE difference for me. I don't always have patience or time to create a playlist.

It's got serious flaws rendering it useless. As a laugh pick some kids song, say Dora the Explorer's "Wheels on the Bus" and pick similar artists....it can get non kid friendly pretty quick. I've just got Gorgasm "Blodlust", Devourment "Babykiller", and Pig Destroyer "Gravedancer" as 3 of the first 4 results. Imagine that birthday party!

Not that I don't like rap music, but when you start a station based on Alan Morrison playing church music on the organ, you don't expect a rap artist to come next! ha. That makes me say, I AGREE! THE RADIO HAS SOME SERIOUS FLAWS.

Agreed! I would LOVE a "popularity slider" in addition to the "selected artist" slider.
It would also be nice to ban tracks/artists from stations - a simple black list. I know the work involved in building likes/dislikes to better tune things is immense, but a simple blacklist would make radio 1000% more great. One of my favorite radio stations has *one* band that was clearly a mistake (all screaming) and I never want to hear that band again (let alone every 20th track or so).

Agree with everyone here: Pandora radio absolutely blows mog away. Not. Even. Close.
Multiple artists for one radio station, thumbs up/down, and most importantly, just a better mix of music. My last attempt was based on Frontier Ruckus, literally 5 of the next 10 songs were all Blitzen Trapper including 3 in a row. Now I like that band, but that's just weak sauce.
For now, if I want radio, I'm sticking to Pandora. It's too bad because if MOG had this function nailed down, I doubt I'd ever need another music service.

I think a thumbs up, thumbs down system like Pandora has would be great.

Too much mismatched music. Too many repeats. When I listen to the Radio Dept station tomorrow it shouldn't be the exact same 20 songs I listened to, today.

Good comments, and I'd like the ability to have the radio play multiple artists, but also wonder why it's not tied into favorites as well. I see the use of favorite artists, albums and songs so that there is one place on the website where I can access this list of my favorites. BUT..what if I want to play my favorites? There are often times I don't want to play them one at a time, but want to make a "my favorites" radio station. I'd love the option to dump into the radio stream the command to JUST play my favorite songs or JUST songs from my favorite albums or JUST songs from my favorite artists. I've already went through the process of identifying them and saving that on the service, so why should I have to create a playlist to play something the database already knows is my favorites? To take it a step further, then add the ability (by slider) to mix in other artists similar to my favorites. Now you'd be talking powerful!

Leveraging community ratings, I agree that Pandora's "radio" functionality blows the MOG artist radio away. Can MOG do something more with community ratings to skew the percentage chance of selecting well-rated tracks? I love MOG, but find the radio functionality next to useless.

I agree, I love Pandora's ability to seed my different stations with either additional Artists or Songs of my choosing. The only reason I am trying out MOG is because of the ability to play or repeat any song I want, but am rethinking because I miss Pandora's better control over my radio stations and better recommendations based off of my seeds.

Pandora has a lot of time and money invested in their "Music Genome" project. It is flawed in oh-so many ways, but remains, by far, the best classification of music and the best algorithm for matching. It actually takes into account things such as tonality, sonority, rhythm, instrument composition, vocal and instrumental quality, complexity, and about 200 other traits. It also requires trained musicologists to be on staff to assign these things. I still use Pandora to find music.
I'd be interested to know how MOG matches music for their radio. Is it done by genre, popularity, people who like this also like this, etc.? Currently, I only use it when I want a shuffled sample from a new artist.
